Yesterdays.... away from city distractions, the perfect venue for productive business meetings retreats & seminars, romantic weddings, showers, reunions, fashion shows, bar mitzvahs, etc.

Originally constructed in 1923 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, the resort began as an executive retreat. It was opened to the public in 1928 as a fishing camp. The bungalows were upscale for the time but very simple in comparison to today's elegance. They consisted of either one or two bedrooms with washrooms located in a central building.

Guests arrived by CPR trains that stopped at the station house you pass on the way into the resort. This building was refurbished recently and is now a summer home. Hard to believe in today's economy but rates were $ 5.00 per day or $ 30.00 per week full American Plan.

The property enjoyed many famous visitors over the years. In 1938, on the last Royal visit before World War II, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth enjoyed dinner in the main dining room & stayed in his private rail car on the property. In honour of this visit, the stone work in the fireplace in the Riverview Dining Room was arranged in the shape of his crown. You can still see this clearly today.

In 1945, the property was sold to Clarence Honey who operated it successfully until 1965. During the ‘50's, the camp became somewhat of a dry out centre for Hollywood. Some of the illustrious guests that stayed on the property were Marilyn Monroe (wonder if she called Jack from the phone booth in the main lobby?) and Clark Gable.

During the 60's, the 70's and early ‘80's, the resort changed hands several times and was renamed Chalet Bungalow Lodge. In the late ‘80's, its owner at the time lost interest in the resort after the death of his wife although he had begun the updating process. Sold in 1988, to a family from Burlington, Ontario, the property was to undergo a complete transformation from a fishing camp to the luxury resort and conference centre you see today.

During the years 1988 through 1992 with an investment in excess of $ 3 million, the Boat House Marina was created while the Stoney Rapids Recreation Hall and Dry Pine Bay Pool building were erected. The individual chalets were ripped apart completely and all underwent a total refurbishing. The lodge was updated, modernized and expanded to add Meshaw Falls Conference facilities and expand the dining area overlooking the river. A grand re-opening was scheduled for 1992 under the new name of Yesterdays.

In July1995, South Bay Marina Limited, a privately held company that has been dealing in the tourism industry since 1968, purchased Yesterdays. The resort reopened under the new management team of Larry & Janis Pichette on, July 27, 1995. With an emphasis on group bookings, weddings, retreats, business meetings and conferences, the resort is now enjoying a clear direction to success.

Your present hosts Doug, Mike, Rob, Suzanne and Tracy purchased the lodge in 2006 and endeavour to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Thank-you for choosing Yesterdays for your destination. If there is anything we can do to make you more comfortable during your visit, please do not hesitate to ask our staff. They will be more than happy to accommodate your needs wherever possible.
