We are a cozy and private American Plan fishing and eco-tourism lodge located on Lake Manitou, an inland lake on Manitoulin Island, and in the heart of Ontario’s Rainbow Country. Our beautiful location and our great meals are just the start of your trip.
We offer good fishing for Lake Trout, Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Jumbo Perch and Whitefish. We also arrange charters for Big trophy Chinook Salmon (King salmon), Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), Kokanee and Coho salmon fishing on Lake Huron.
We have many eco-tourism activities such as sailing, swimming, canoeing, boating, road cycling, mountain biking, hiking and nature photography.
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation or an exciting fun filled trip, Timberlane Rustic Lodges is the place to be.
HIKING: We have hiking trails in the area where you can explore the shoreline of the lake and see some of the local wildlife which includes a large deer population. It's a great way to work off your dinner and photograph wildlife in the area. A nice walk is very relaxing. There are over 200 acres to explore.
SWIMMING: The lake is crystal clear and excellent for swimming and scuba diving. We have a small beach for young children and also our swimming point with a floating swimmers' raft where you can relax and get a nice suntan.
The Lodge is on Lake Manitou, the largest lake on Manitoulin Island. It's about 20 miles long with 65 miles of undeveloped and scenic shoreline. The lake is spring fed, crystal clear, and abounds with plenty of sport fish. The primary species are Lake Trout, Jumbo Perch, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike with good Walleye fishing in the smaller lakes in the area.
The best times are May and June for Perch and shallow Lake Trout, late May and early June for Pike, late June and into July for Smallmouth, Perch, and deep Lake Trout. September and early October are good for Whitefish and some of the best Jumbo Perch and Smallmouth Bass fishing you'll find anywhere.
What about the summer months? There is always good "fun fishing" for kids of all ages in the summer. Charters can also be arranged for some terrific Chinook and Rainbow fishing on the Big Water (Lake Huron surrounds Manitoulin Island). Coho and Kokanee are occasionally taken from the lake but not as frequently as Chinook (King) and Rainbows (Steelhead). We have our own guides right at the Lodge to help you find those "hot spots" here on Manitou.
Nothing feels better then a good night's sleep in the north. The air is so fresh that you feel great when you wake up in the morning. To make things better, you can make yourself a coffee and sit outside on the front porch, overlooking the lake as the sun warms up the morning.
Timerlane Rustic Lodges has 11 cabins all on or close to the water with beautiful views of the lake. We have three sizes to choose from. There are 2, 3 and 4 bedroom cabins which are rustic but fully maintained and very clean.
