Outposts. For 40 years, Canadian Fly-In Fishing has brought to you, the sports enthusiast, unspoiled wilderness areas, privacy, and an abundance of gamefish.

Fly In. Canadian Fly In Fishing's seven (7) lakes are only accessible by float plane -- so you are the proprietor of your own 4,000 to 6,000 acre lake for a week of fantastic sport fishing. The average flying time from Red Lake to your outpost is approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Your route takes you over some of the most awe-inspiring scenery imaginable. Daily fly-over camp checks are provided for your comfort and safety.

Canadian Fly-In Fishing cabins. Our many hundreds of delighted guests and over 70% repeat customers attest to our comfortable accommodations, service, and unique angling experiences for fishermen and their families. Our magnificently constructed spruce log cabins are as well equipped and as livable as many houses. Each of our 10 cabins will accommodate up to 8 people, making a comfortable experience for the whole family. (References can be supplied upon request.)

Canadian Fly In Fishing lakes deliver quality walleye and northern pike - "eaters" as well as trophies. You will find yourself releasing dozens and in many cases, hundreds, of walleye and northern pike during your week's stay with us. Jigs, twister tails, spinners with flashers, and minnow type lures are best for walleye while spoons and bucktails are successful for northerns.

Fishing is great from "ice out" in May and only gets better through late July and August. September is a beautiful month so you may want to consider combining a fall fishing trip with excellent goose and duck hunting in late September and early October. The moose hunting at this time of the year is also excellent with Canadian Fly In Fishing.

We're proud of the many trophies that come out of Canadian Fly In Fishing lakes each year. Walleye are taken with both spinning and bait casting tackle. Many enjoy the thrill of using ultra-light rigs. For northerns we suggest using 12 to 14 pound test line with steel leaders.

The Season - With a short season and the fact that we restrict the number of people per season on each lake, pressure is nonexistent. Our lakes average 4 to 6 thousand acres. Canadian Fly In Fishing can put you right over the fish with lake maps that we provide.

Unspoiled Natural Beauty. The country is a panorama of beauty with its densely wooded forests and high rocky outcrops that cast their reflection onto still waters. The entire area is an almost untouched fishing and hunting paradise in the heart of Northwestern Ontario's vast wilderness. For the nature lover, it is easy to see eagles, loons, ducks, otters, beavers and moose. Black bear have been known to walk "right past your door."

Moose - You may want to consider hunting in September. The moose hunting at this time of year is excellent. Bow-hunting for moose begins in September, while rifle season begins in October. $1700 US per person includes camp, and moose tag. Add fishing license if desired, food, etc. May go out to camp earlier or stay later, weather permitting.

Waterfowl - September is a beautiful month, creating a wonderful fall fishing trip with excellent goose and duck hunting in late September and early October. Package includes camp. Add small game license, Canadian duck stamp, fishing license if desired, food, etc.

Black Bear - The fall bear hunt is an event you won't want to miss. Hunting for Black Bear begins August 15th. $1400 US per person includes camp and outfitters permit. Add fishing license if desired, food, etc.

Canadian Fly-In Fishing has ten cabins located on seven lakes. Four of our lakes have single cabins while the other three lakes have two cabins each, one located on the north and one on the south shores. Ours are the only cabins located on these lakes. The Canadian Ministry limits us to a maximum of 97 people per year on the two-cabin lakes, and 150 people per year on the single-cabin lakes. These limits are set to prevent each lake from being overfished. Thus, as strange as it may seem, our double cabin lakes have less fishing per year than do the single cabin lakes.

Several "Canadian Fly In Fishing" lakes have connecting channels to other lakes which are navigable with a camp boat and motor. Thus, if your cabin is located on one of these lakes, your group may fish the connected lake as well as the lake where your cabin is located.

Canadian Fly-In Fishing also have several lakes with adjacent lakes available for you to fish by portaging. Take your fishing equipment to the adjacent lake; then use the boat and motor we provide there for your use. (The adjacent lakes already have boats and motors waiting there for use.) These portage lakes have no cabins on them and are very seldom fished. All portages are quite short; from 100 yards to the longest of about 3/4 mile.

Canadian Fly-In Fishing lakes are listed below. Each shows the distance in air miles out of Red Lake; cabin(s) location; and all lakes in each group which are available for our guests to use.

Our outpost lakes: PEISK LAKE, KNOX LAKE, MURDOCK LAKE, THICKETWOOD LAKE, ROBERTS LAKE, JOB LAKE, MIMI LAKE

HISTORY:

Canadian Fly-In Fishing was founded by the late James C. Thomas (1921-1999). Thomas was the former Outdoor Editor for Channel 9 WGN, Chicago. He hosted the nationally syndicated series, "Jim Thomas Outdoors" and the "Lone Star Sportsman."

Canadian Fly-In Fishing represents the efforts of three generations of a family-owned business to bring you, the fisherman, what has become an endangered species in today's world of over-crowded recreation areas and depleted fishing waters -- privacy, unspoiled wilderness, and an abundance of gamefish -- at a very reasonable price.
