Welcome to Stanley's Resort. Located in Northwestern Ontario on Eagle Lake. Stanley's is family owned and operated since 1950. Stanley's is the premier drive-in housekeeping resort in all of Northwestern Ontario. Positioned on the rugged Canadian shield, and surrounded by untouched boreal forest, it is lake side living at it's finest!

Stanley's Resort is located on the West Arm of Eagle Lake, Ontario which is a secluded and narrow, 16 mile channel that is only 1˝ miles at its widest point. This stretch of Eagle Lake, is home to six varieties of fish, all of them starting within sight of your cottage. Eagle Lake itself is 90 miles long with over 65,000 acres of water. If you do want to go exploring beyond the West Arm there is plenty of room to do so, but we find it is not necessary to do so much traveling. Positioned all around the West Arm is a series of smaller portage lakes that our guests have access to via a short portage. We have placed the boats motors and gas on the other side of the short portage (10 - 65 yards). All you have to do is carry you fishing gear across.

With fully equipped, handicapped accessible cottages, from one to four bedrooms, our guests are delighted with our five star quality cottages. All our beds are extra long, and the cottages come complete with all the bedding and linens. Kitchen and bath towels are changed daily. All our cottages feature living rooms with satellite TV, 4 piece baths, automatic electric heat, sundecks, patio furniture and Weber grills. Kitchens are fully equipped with modern electric ranges. A full compliment of utensils, dishes, glasses, pots & pans. Every cottage includes an electric toaster, coffee maker and microwave. Double bowl sinks with hot and cold running water, large refrigerators with freezer compartments complete your vacation cottage. We even include extra amenities like coffee filters, garbage bags and dish soap. For any items that you might have forgotten at home, Stanley's has a small convenience store, tackle shop and Laundromat on site.

Walleye Fishing - Everyone's favorite. This tasty fish is the most sought after. Luckily at Stanley's Resort on Eagle Lake, walleye fishing starts only minutes away. With an abundance of structure within sight of the resort, your time is spent fishing, not traveling to and from. Not only does Eagle Lake, Ontario have a great walleye fishery, but most of our portage lakes have walleyes in them as well. Walleye fishing tactics will change from the spring compared to the summer, through to the fall. Spring means cold water, thus the walleyes are shallow, and are just off the shorelines and points. Once the water warms up towards summer, walleyes mover towards deeper water and begin to seek out structure. The reefs and drop offs are their favorite spots. In the fall, walleyes will move down deeper and will often lay out in flat areas. Deciding when to come will depend on how you want to fish and what type of weather you want to fish in. Spring fishing can bring easy fishing, but you might have to contend with less than favorable weather. Summer and fall fishing will bring warmer and nicer weather, but walleyes fishing becomes more technical, as structure, weather fronts, and presentation of bait are more important. The decision is your, but what ever time you decide to come, you will be rewarded with a wonderful experience

Northern Pike Fishing - A true Canadian favorite. Known for their fast hits and awesome fight, these aggressive fish are abundant in all of our waters. Many are caught when you are fishing for other species. Be careful, and hold on to your rod tightly. You never know when one of these lunkers will come out of nowhere and grab you line and run. The size of northern range from "hammer-handles" all the way up to trophy. With shorelunch size to eat and some larger ones to CPR (catch, photo & release), the northern fishing will be talked about long after you return from your trip. How about a guided trip? Drive to our own catch & release lake with a guide where you will be treated to a day of northern fishing so intense that many participants complain of sore wrists at the end of the day. The full day trip includes a shorelunch, and a chance to watch a pair of Bald Eagles come and pick fish off the surface of the water right in front of you !! You'll want to arrange for this trip early as availability is limited.

Smallmouth Bass - Smallmouth have long been know for their fantastic fight and airborne antics. Eagle Lake as well as several of our portage lakes are proving grounds for those who are looking to battle the bronze backs.

Muskie Fishing - Interested in flying out for a fun filled day of Muskie fishing?? Fly by float aircraft to our own private lake where you and two of your friends will be guided by your pilot on a Muskie only lake. Just think, catching up to forty Muskie in your boat, using only ultralight fishing rods. It's a dream fishing trip, that's well within your reach. The average size Muskie is 26-28 inches, but it is all Muskie!!!! The ultra-light rod makes the fight spectacular. This trip has only limited availability so inquire early.

Lake Trout Fishing- Try these deep water fighters. the average size on Eagle Lake is about 6 lbs., but fish over 30 have been brought in. Early spring has the lake trout close to the surface, just trolling and casting the shoreline will bring you success. As summer approaches, Lakers move to deeper, cold water, where vertical jigging, trolling spoons or cowbells are you best best. The most fun time of the year in my opinion is in the late fall once the water turns over and the trout come up to spawn. Stand on shore with an ultra-light and cast. Hold on once you get one, your in for quite a fight. However you look at it, these are great fish, and great eating (don't worry, these fish taste great, nothing like their Lake Michigan relatives).

Papaonga Lake Outpost - Experience true wilderness fishing for walleye and northern with only a short 20 minute flight from Ear Falls, Ontario. Papaonga Lake is fed by a series of river systems and is considered one of the best remote lakes in the area. Papaonga is known for it’s great walleye fishing, and that why our gusts keep coming back. Stories of the elusive blue walleye that make up your days catch are shared back at the dinner table each night after a full day of catching fish!! Northerns are prevalent even while fishing for walleye, but for those who want to try casting, there are ample weedbeds available.

Early spring will still find many fish in the small rivers flowing in and out of Papaonga Lake. The lake it self is 5 miles long by 1˝ miles wide. The end of the lake marks the start of the river system, which is navigable for 8 miles into two additional lakes.. You could probably catch as many fish on the point across from the cabin, as you will at the last lake down river, but the opportunity to explore is there for you.

Enjoy fresh fish while you are at the outpost, but Papaonga Lake Outpost, Ontario is a conservation limit lake only. Pick up your licence and any live bait you want to bring with you in Ear Falls before you depart. Many of our guest will bring an ample supply of artificial lures and plastic jig bodies, The plastic bodies, last long and stay on for several fish.
