The river Ebro is the backbone of the northern river system of Spain. The rivers which contribute more than 50% of the water to the catchment area belong to the Aragonese Pyrenees, which in turn constitutes the area in the middle of the Pyrenean system and is home to most of the sub-systems, valleys and 3000- metre peaks.
It has 1,200,000 inhabitants, a surface area of 47,000 km2 and a population density of 26 inhabitants/km2. Zaragoza, the capital of the region, is in the centre of the territory and has almost a million inhabitants, which gives an idea of the rural de-population with extensive areas of wild, unspoilt countryside. The thousand-year old traditions, product of this ancient history, have formed a rich tapestry of artistic and cultural heritage, in an extraordinary conjunction of sceneries.
Dry Fly Fishing for native Trout and Brook Trout in rivers and lakes set in a wild and unspoilt landscape define Fishing in Spanish Pyrenees environment. You are invited to fish in these privileged conditions in one of the best Fly Fishing destinations in Europe because of the quality of the trout and their character.
Brown Trout - The Brown Trout is the most common trout in the rivers and lakes in the area. The Autochthonous Brown Trout Mediterranean genotype, present in these waters for thousands of years, inhabits today in many rivers of the Pyrenees.
Rainbow Trout - It was introduced in the Pre-Pyrenees in the 1970's and today there are a few places to fish wild populations in Spain.
Brook Trout - Hidden at the source of some of the Pyrenees rivers, we find the perfect habitat for Brook Trout (Salvelinus Fontinalis); we could find excellent populations and inclusive lake virgin locations with this specie.
Barbel - This specie takes really good runs and each year there are more Barbel fly fishing enthusiast enjoying with their sight fishing along the pre spawn (May-June)
