Rocky Mountain Ranches is a licensed Colorado big game hunting outfitter and guide service. We offer some of the finest Colorado elk hunting, Colorado mule deer hunting, and Colorado pronghorn antelope hunting on private ranches in the Colorado Rockies. Our big game outfitting and guide service can provide you, the big game hunter, with both bow and rifle hunts, but we specialize in outfitting do-it-yourself non-guided big game hunts and drop camps on private Colorado ranches. Our non-guided hunts are a fraction of the cost of a fully guided hunt if you consider the great advantages that are offered on private land versus public land. We are able to offer you superb Colorado Elk hunting, mule deer hunting and antelope hunting by accepting only a limited number of big game hunters to hunt our ranches each year. By controlling the amount of hunting pressure on our private land, we increase your chances of a successful elk, mule deer, or antelope hunt.
Owned and managed by licensed Colorado big game outfitter and guide Larry Bishop, Rocky Mountain Ranches provides a way for you to enjoy some of the finest elk hunting, mule deer hunting, and pronghorn antelope hunting in Colorado. All of our elk hunting take place in 4-point or better Colorado hunting units, which improves your chances for a trophy bull elk. In past seasons, our rifle hunters have enjoyed a success rate of over 50% on 4-point or better bull elk, over 90% success on buck mule deer, and 100% success on buck antelope.
COLORADO MULE DEER HUNTING:
Rocky Mountain Ranches is pleased to offer big game hunters like you some of the best mule deer hunting Northwest Colorado has to offer. Our Colorado deer hunting is conducted on some of Northwest Colorado's finest private ranches.
Northwest Colorado is famous for its large herds of mule deer, elk, and pronghorn antelope. All of our mule deer hunts and big game hunting is fair chase only (no high fences here). Our Colorado ranches are managed to provide you with superb hunting opportunities.
In addition to our excellent resident mule deer herds, hunting pressure on nearby public lands causes more deer and other big game animals to migrate onto Rocky Mountain Ranches private land. These conditions have resulted in our deer hunters realizing an outstanding success rate of over 90% for more than five years running.
Our deer-only hunting ranches are located in what is known as the "high desert" country of Northwest Colorado. The terrain is rolling sage hills with draws and canyons that offer you some exciting hunting experiences.
COLORADO PRONGHORN ANTELOPE HUNTING:
Rocky Mountain Ranches is excited to offer you, the big game hunter, world-class pronghorn antelope hunting in Northwest Colorado. Our Colorado antelope hunts are conducted on some of the finest private ranches in the Craig-Steamboat Springs area.
Northwest Colorado is famous for its large herds of pronghorn antelope, and Moffat County, Colorado, consistently produces record-class animals. In fact, Moffat County, Colorado, is one of the most sought after trophy antelope hunting areas in the West.
All of our trophy antelope hunts and big game hunting is fair chase only (no high fences here). Our Colorado ranches are managed to provide you with superb hunting opportunities. In fact, our antelope hunters achieve a 100% success rate.
In addition to our excellent resident pronghorn antelope herds, hunting pressure on nearby properties causes more antelope to migrate onto Rocky Mountain Ranches private land.
Our trophy antelope hunting ranches are located in what is known as the "high desert" country of Northwest Colorado. The terrain is rolling sage hills with draws and canyons that provide some exciting hunting opportunities. The very limited number of licenses available increases your chances of taking an exceptional trophy pronghorn antelope.
For our archery antelope hunters we do provide pre-set blinds at established and scouted water holes.
We do receive a limited number of "landowner tags" each year for our hunting clients who prefer not to wait out the drawing process. These landowner tags are available at an additional cost.
COLORADO HUNTING LOCATIONS: Colorado is home to the largest elk population in the world, and our hunting area is famous for its extraordinary elk, deer, and antelope hunting. Located in the Craig-Steamboat Springs area of northwestern Colorado, Rocky Mountain Ranches manages hunting properties that offer varying types of hunting terrain, from heavily forested elk habitat to rolling sage-dotted countryside where mule deer and antelope abound. Surrounded by beautiful Colorado scenery, you might want to spend some of your time taking pictures.
ABOUT YOUR COLORADO HUNT: Clients may camp on the ranch or stay in nearby motels. If you want to camp but don't have the necessary camp gear, we can provide you with our deluxe big game hunting outfitters' camp. All you will need to bring is your bedroll, your personal gear including your weapon, and your food (minimum of 3 hunters in same party to book optional camp). We also can provide a comfortable camper trailer for groups of 2-3 hunters.
We will meet you the day before your hunt starts, provide you with topo maps, show you the property, and help you plan your hunting strategies. For archery antelope hunters, we do provide pre-set blinds at scouted waterholes. By the way, we recommend 4-wheel drive vehicles; and ATVs are welcome. However, all vehicle travel is restricted.

COLORADO ELK HUNTING:
Northwest Colorado is famous for its large herds of elk and other big game such as mule deer and pronghorn antelope. All of our elk hunts and big game hunting is fair chase only (no high fences here). Our Colorado ranches are managed to provide you with superb big game hunting opportunities.
In addition to our excellent resident elk herds, hunting pressure on nearby public lands causes more elk and other big game animals to migrate onto Rocky Mountain Ranches private land.
Our elk hunting areas are in 4-point or better game management units, thereby increasing your chances of taking a mature bull elk. Typically, our hunters achieve a success rate of over 50% on 4-point or better bull elk, with the majority of bulls running in the 5- to 6-point range.
The terrain you will hunt varies from rolling sage hills, dense oak brush, and stands of aspen to stands of dark pine timber. No matter what your hunting terrain preference, we have a spot for you.
For the hunter who prefers to put tasty elk steaks in the freezer rather than antlers on the wall, we also offer cow elk hunting at a reduced rate. Our cow elk hunts take place after the regular rifle bull elk seasons. These big game herd reduction hunts help to control our over-abundant elk herds.
