Plummers Lodges

We have a growing list of references and 75% returning guests for you to call. Yes all this great hunting is possible in this "Neck of Woods", this is Manitoba Canada.

Big Game allocation is aprox.1200 sq.miles (700,000 acres) of Deer hunting country and 600 sq.mi (350,000 acres) as our exclusive Bear hunting allocation. We are re-opening 2 famous Outcamp allocations to offer exciting hunts and more equipment to hunt with. More options for our fantastic waterfowl hunts are available also, contact us for details.

Riverside Lodge was established in 1961. The years of success are attributed to the location plus clean, warm and friendly accommodations. At Riverside Lodge we want to show you our hospitality and hunting is second to none. Our 4 clean H/K cabins are fully equipped with private shower and bathroom, comfortable beds and full kitchen. All towels, bedding, etc. is provided. We present 3 home cooked meals carefully prepared fresh daily by our Cook and served in the Lodge. Quality and quantity are guaranteed! Relax after inside the Lodge or outside in our gazebo or picnic area.

Our area’s Eco-system is very unique as it is a World Class Waterfowl hunting location as well as home to many of North America’s mammals.

Bear and Whitetail Deer thrive here with all of the water and large forest un-navigable by untrained persons. Riverside Lodge is accessible by road, but the area quickly opens up into a huge mass of wilderness naturally protected by it’s own terrain. This is where our expert staff and equipment take over and safely transport hunters deep into the wilderness for the hunt of their dreams.

Riverside Lodge Whitetail hunting trips are designed for hunters who are ready to put in the time on stand, and who are prepared for the cold. Unfortunately the colder the weather the faster the action when hunting rutting deer. The cold helps "get things going" and the does need to feed more often. We hunt several hundred square miles of heavy bush and we set up tree stands along historical travel routes, rub/scrape lines, open meadows and ridges between feeding and bedding areas. Shots from 50 yards out to 300 are possible. There have been very big Deer shot from these stands. For gun hunters we use natural vegetation to build our stand blinds and our tree stands are custom built for ample room and Safety. For bow hunters we use hide sparingly on the stands so we don't interrupt a shot opportunity. We pattern Rutting Bucks and feeding does to help us decide if/when to hunt a stand, then we hunt the wind direction and visible sign. We spend the entire year tracking and noting deer behavior and try to use the info to give us the "edge". You will be hunting in our remote allocation and if all things come together, you will get a chance at a heavy non typical Manitoba Monster Buck. As are all of our hunts, you will have an adventure like no other. The area is huge and most of the deer will not have seen a human before. The main predator of these animals are the Timber Wolves, not humans. So if you see a wolf, shoot it! Your deer license allows you to take one wolf before your Deer.

We have a huge population of Black bears with a consistent 40% color phase with a 50% take in the past 2 years. Our bears get the chance to grow very big with plentiful food and cover and no other bear hunters in our allocation. We see colors such as blonde, cinnamon and chocolate as well black. Our hunts take place over baits, most of which are established for 20 years and the bears habitually take advantage of the easy feed every spring and fall. We diligently keep the baits full and active. We spend the time to ensure our baits are active, with attention given to location, quality of bait, wind direction and concealment. We hunt from tree stands with shooting lanes cut to the baits with typical distance of 75 yards to bait for rifle. We use natural vegetation to build our stand blinds and our tree stands are custom built for ample room and Safety.

How many places offer a REAL wilderness hunt deep into the bears liar? It is a unique experience to hunt in our remote location and then haul your bear home in the front of a boat. It is no easy task preparing/maintaining our bait sites and stands, but we put in a lot of effort to give each guest a hunt of a lifetime. We can’t pull up to the stand in a pick up truck and drop a barrel of bait under a tree, like some farm oriented outfitters. Just getting to our stands is an adventure let alone hauling 1000 lbs. of bait/ stand there each week! So rest assured, your hunt is going to be rewarding, because we have bears and we take it seriously.

In late spring to early fall, normal downtime for hunting, there is a very large fish that frequents shallow water along shorelines and bays. It is a very strong, heavy muscled bottom feeder known as the Carp. We spend some time not only angling for them with large rod and reel, but hunting them as well. We generally set up in the shallows and either slowly push our boat around or wait for schools of them to swim by. Chumming with bait is good way to concentrate them for hunting and fishing. The weapons used are typical hunting bows armed with fishing arrows and a spool for the string attached to the arrow. Upon being hit these mammoths explode into a frenzy and you must take care not get caught up in the string because they are powerful. The next best thing is the weather is usually very pleasant during this time of year. We offer hunts from the lodge and also from our Outcamps where you can stay in a real wilderness camp with a camp guide.
