OPEN BAY LODGE is nestled in a sheltered, well protected bay with a sandy shoreline and is located in the centre of the famous Lac Des Mille Lacs. Both Cabins and RV Sites overlook a tranquil setting surrounded by Canadian wilderness.
Open Bay Lodge has 8 Housekeeping Cabins - six cabins sleep 4 to 6 people and two cabins sleep 8-9 people. The cabins are well maintained and equipped with hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets; electric refrigerators, propane stoves and furnaces. Dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils and bedding are supplied. Simply bring your own towels and personal toiletry items.
Tenting and RV Sites are equipped with individual water and electrical hookups (30 amp service) and picnic tables. Our central shower house and restroom facility also houses a small laundromat for your convenience.
Lac Des Mille Lacs (French for 'A Lake of a Thousand Lakes') is located approximately 130 Kilometres (80 miles) west of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and 4 miles East of Upsala, by Highway 17. As you can see, the lake is very large. It measures approximately 59 583.8 acres, or 24, 113.6 hectares in size. Lac Des Mille is famous for its excellent Walleye and Northern fishing, and is also habitat to many Perch, Small Mouth Bass and Whitefish. The lake is also dotted with hundreds of islands, and is indented with numerous bays, inlets and channels.
