Lake Nipigon is situated on the 50th parallel. An immense lake of pristine beauty, it is roughly ninety miles long and sixty-five miles wide.

The scenic aspect of the lake is unsurpassed. The shoreline varies from white and black sand beaches to sheer bluffs of the pre-cambrian mountain range that encompasses the lake. In the cooler months of spring and fall the aurora borealis presents a breathtaking sight in the night sky. Truly nature's serenity at it's best.

Due to limited access roads, this large glacial lake has remained remote and unspoiled. It's shores and waters abound with fish and wildlife. It is the natural home of the beaver, timber wolf and moose, in addition to osprey, bald eagles, loons and other water fowl.

The absence of angling pressure has resulted in Lake Nipigon remaining a world class fishery. Although famous for its record sized brook trout, Lake Nipigon offers a variety of other fish species including lake trout, walleye and northern pike. Fish caught on a cruiser trip are cleaned and preserved as a part of that service. It is necessary however, to bring along a cooler for transporting your catch on the return trip home.

McCollum's Resort is situated on a sheltered eight mile bay at the south end of Lake Nipigon. This bay offers quite a large area of water to explore, sight see, or fish on without having to venture onto the larger expanse of the Lake. In these protected waters, there is good walleye and northern pike fishing.

All cottages are on the waters' edge and offer a beautiful view from large picture windows. For a stay of more than one day, it is advisable to grocery shop on the way to the resort.

Our scenery is spectacular! Our resort is surrounded on three sides by water and faces the 500 ft. bluffs of a Pre Cambrian mountain range. A land locked, spring fed lake borders the eastern shores of the resort, reflecting these majestic mountains in its cold, clear depths, giving it the name 'Reflection Lake'. Within full view and easy walking distance of the resort, a beautiful waterfall cascades over the mountain side into a bay on Lake Nipigon. This bay surrounds the southern and western shores of our resort.
