Situated in the heart of Lac Seul, Mahkwa Lodge is the ultimate fishing destination in N.W. Ontario's Boreal forest region. The abundance of wildlife, sandy beaches and trophy size Walleye and Northern has made Mahkwa Lodge one of the most popular destinations for all types of people from around the globe.
No matter if you want to stay for one day or one month, our open booking system facilitates all your groups needs.
Depending on your preference, we offer both Housekeeping and American Plan accommodations.
Mahkwa Lodge also offers accommodations in its 12 Housekeeping Cabins. Each unit is provided with all the basics including hot/cold water, showers, indoor washrooms and the standard cooking utilities ( fridge, stove etc). All the Cabins are located with a perfect view of the lake.
Our experienced guides are from the community of Lac Seul, each day they will not only take you to the most productive areas on the lake but will also prepare you a perfectly cooked shore lunch on one of many scenic beaches the lake has to offer. Guide service are included in the Full American Plan. You can however reserve a guide at a rate of $115.00 per day.
Lac Seul is a reservoir 80 miles long and 4 miles wide in some places. As the only Lodge in South-West area of the lake with exclusive access from a private boat landing, you are guaranteed a first class fishing experience.
The numerous hot spots for Trophy Northern and Walleye are located just minutes away from our doorstep. Smallmouth Bass and Whitefish are also abundant in area's close to the lodge, where as Muskie can be found just 40 minutes up the lake.
The lake level fluctuates by about 4 feet annually, from it's lowest point in May and rising to its peak in July. May and June are ideal times for fast fishing as the Walleyes and Northern are just ending the spawn and still 'hang around' the shallows. Casting with small spoons in the shallows is fun. As the waters warm up the Walleyes move to deeper waters allowing for trolling and jigging.
Winter is also a great time for ice fishing either on Lac Seul or one of our remote lake locations, limited Sleds are available for rent, and ice huts are located by the hot spots for your convenience.
