Plummers Lodges

Lake Athabasca Lodge, located on Grouse Island in the heart of Lake Athabasca, which is on the north eastern border of Alberta and the northwest corner of Saskatchewan, offers some of Saskatchewan's finest guided fresh water sports fishing trips for Lake Trout, Walleye, Artic Grayling, and Northern Pike.

Your fishing experience will ultimately be one of the most memorable trips to northern Canada. Our sports lodge also offers vacation stays, adventure walks, and eco-tours. Discover the magnificent beauty of the unspoiled wilderness and the crystal clean fresh waters in the northern Canadian shield while experiencing some of the world's best fishing for lake trout, walleye, northern pike and artic grayling guided fresh water sports fishing.

With flights out of Calgary and Edmonton to Fort McMurray on West Jet or Air Canada Airlines, Lake Athabasca is one of the premier fresh water lakes in Northern Canada. Come stay with us on our remote island in northern Saskatchewan.

The amazing and spectacular Athabasca Sand Dunes are only a eighteen mile boat ride from Lake Athabasca Lodge across the lake and is well worth the trip. The Athabasca Sand Dunes are located along the south shore of Lake Athabasca and run for about 60 miles reaching as high as 100 feet in some areas.

The Athabasca Sand Dunes are the most northerly major sand field in the world. Constantly moving, they slowly smother forest in some areas and uncover stands of previously covered forest in others.

There are over 50 rare plant species found in the area, 10 of which are found nowhere else on earth. This fragile landscape is protected by the Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Wilderness Park.

Lake Athabasca is also home to the elusive Walleye. Jig for Walleye in deep, rocky holes found around the lake. Have a shore lunch of fresh walleye fillets prepared by your guide and you'll want it all the time!

Arctic Grayling, the "fiesty sailfish of the North", also calls Lake Athabasca home. Found in the swift-running fresh waters, these small but mighty fighters are a thrill to catch. Try your hand at fly-fishing for these acrobatic, colourful fish right from shore on our island as well as several other small islands.

This fresh water lake is famous for its Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Walleye and Northern Pike. Out here, we don't even call them fish - we call them "hogs" because there is really no other way to describe their abundance and size. The photos and smiles say it all.

Lake Athabasca is located near the 60th parallel, spanning the Alberta and Saskatchewan borders. Our lodge is located on Grouse Island near the North shore of the lake. Our location is considered by most as the best spot on the lake to catch the most fish per day. These convenient images allow you to experience all the lake has to offer.

To reach our lodge, guests fly to Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta, then connect by jet to Fort McMurray, Alberta. A caravan flight of an hour and a half is the last leg of your trip. We pick you up at the air strip for the 3 mile boat ride to the lodge. We welcome guests throughout our season, which runs from June to October.
