We have a play area for children and nearby in the Town of Chapleau you can visit the Canadaian Pacific Railway Museum as well as many other activities for all the family .
Kanipahow Kamps is located on the beautiful and famous Chapleau River which borders on the largest wildlife sanctuary in the world. Our remote location combined with the high population of wildlife has made Kanipahow Kamps one of the top Black Bear and Moose hunting destinations in Canada. The sparkling clean waters of the Chapleau River produce excellent fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike and Perch. Adjacent lakes and streams have Lake and Brook Trout. Our great fishing and hunting is once again complemented by the comfort and beauty of our fully equipped cottages. We also offer a fully serviced family camp ground with lots of conveniences and designated sites for both RV's and tents. It's the sports-person's playground of Northern Ontario.
Walleye - Ontario is world famous for Walleye fishing. Our sparkling clean lakes and rivers produce good size as well as large numbers of Walleye. Even the most seasoned fisher-person will get excited just thinking about fishing this far north. Kanipahow Kamps is fortunate to be on the Chapleau River which never stops supplying our walleyes with fresh water and lots of food. The river current supplies perfect spawning grounds which keeps the population of Walleyes high and healthy.
Northern Pike - A healthy population of Walleyes means a banquet for big Northerns. Even with all that food they still attack your fishing line like a fresh water Barracuda. Big pike patrol the shoreline looking for anything that moves. The Chapleau Northerns will eat anything. Just make sure you keep a couple for lunch because the Northerns up here taste excellent. They are just as sweet as Walleyes.
Yellow Perch - In Ontario, any perch over 10 inches is called a Jumbo Perch. We are well known for our Jumbo Perch population. There are some days when you can't keep the Perch off your line. There is no limit on Perch so it's the best way to bring a pile of fish home for the big fish fry.
Bear Hunting - At Kanipahow Kamps , bear hunting has been a time-honored family tradition for over forty years. We pride ourselves on having one of the best Black Bear hunts in Canada. Our whole family is trained and experienced with bear hunting techniques which has resulted in a 90% success rate for our customers. Rifle hunters can take advantage of strategically placed tree stands with clear view of the target zone. Bow hunters can take advantage of portable tree stands to maximize their targeting strategies. We bait our bears with a secret family recipe made up of pork, fish, beef, poultry and other ingredients and scents. This mix is placed out in the target zone weeks before your hunt thus maximizing the return of the bear.
