Horwood Lake Lodge is situated on the north-west shore of Hardiman Bay, Horwood Lake, and has easy road access.
Built on a point extending into the lake, a breathtaking view is exposed on three sides. Most of the eight guest cabins are nestled at the waters edge, with private docking and a gradually sloped sand beach.
One hundred and ten miles of irregular shoreline and 13,500 acres of water offers a great variety of opportunity for the sportsman or naturalist.
Relax, breathe in the fresh air. Let the view of the sunrise in the morning, and the moon at night, casting their reflections over the sparkling clean waters wash away the pressures of every day life.
Hunting partridge and fishing Walleye and Northerns! What a great way to spend a week in September or October! Many miles of over-grown logging roads provide Spruce and Ruffed Grouse; Horwood and countless smaller lakes provide the fish. Call for details today!
Horwood Lake is well known for its trophy Walleyes and Northerns. Being a deep lake, it offers excellent fishing all through the season. Due to the large area of Horwood Lake, you can fish a different spot each day.
If variety is what you're after, guided day trips via our 4X4 bush taxi are available to outlying smaller lakes with shore lunch prepared at the waters edge.
A fishing trip can't be planned without talking about tackle. At Horwood Lake Lodge guests fish with a variety of tackle. In the spring time minnows, floating & suspending Rapalas work best for walleye. Spoons such as Williams Woblers, daredevils and lucky-strike gold/orange attract large northerns. When the water warms in the summer and through to the fall bottom bouncing a worm/jig or worm/small spinner is very effective for walleye.
Walleye divers and hot'n tots also produce well trolling. Large spoons and plugs entice the northerns but you have to fish deeper near structure. Jumbo perch are often caught while walleye fishing. An ultra-light rod definitely helps with the "light bite" of the walleye.
