Hawk Lake is the only lodge on a system of twenty pristine, Canadian Shield lakes. Whether your preference is spinning, bait casting or fly fishing, Hawk Lake and its adjoining lakes offer you some of the finest, fast-action Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Lake Trout and trophy Walleye fishing available in Northwest Ontario. The number and diversity of these lakes provides the flexibility necessary to guarantee you quality angling opportunities in any season. Add to this, very light angling pressure with the practice of catch and release, barbless fishing and you are assured that the delicate natural balance of these lakes remains unchanged and available for you to experience. Hawk Lake lodge guests can fish whenever they desire. There is always someone to assist you, offer up-to-date fishing advice and service or clean your boat.
We encourage you to experience fishing our many portage lakes. Clean, maintained portage trails vary in length from 150 to 3800 feet. Boats and motors on the outlakes are serviced each morning. When you visit a portage lake all you need take with you is your fishing gear, lunch and life jacket or cushion. Portage service is available should you require assistance.
Lake Orientation
It is our goal and we feel our responsibility to share with you all the knowledge we have acquired about our lake system. To accomplish this, we provide an "on-the-water" orientation tour of Hawk Lake shortly after your arrival. During the tour we share with you what our many lakes have to offer. Once we know what your interests and skills are, and how you like to fish, we can make some good recommendations regarding the best angling methods and locations for you. As you know, fish and fishing are very subject to water temperature, wind, weather, season and spawning cycles. We want you to be comfortable and successful on our waters. We will show you where we are fishing, what baits we use and the presentations we have found to be most productive.
Conservation Policies
We support and encourage catch and release angling and the use of barbless hooks. We ask that all spawning fish be immediately released. After photographing your catch we ask that you release any trophy fish caught. If you prefer not to modify your lures, we have tackle that has been properly modified for angling use on these waters. You are welcome to use this tackle at no charge during your stay. We ask only that you pay for or replace any tackle that is lost.
