A daily fly-in fishing trip or a short sight-seeing tour by air may be arranged with prior notice.

Ontario Moose Hunting

The Gogama Wilderness Region, which is south of Timmins, is famous for Moose hunting. There are lots of small lakes, ponds, swamps and clear-cut areas, which is the terrain that Moose love the best. This area is WMU 29.

Our adult Moose tags have been reserved until 2006. If you want more information about our adult moose tags, please contact us. Hunters can still purchase a calf tag and get charged for the regular fishing rates. Non-resident who purchase a calf tag have to pay an extra $100 for all the government paperwork.

With the moose hunt, we can tell you where the best places are to hunt and then you go out on your own. You can also hire a guide, which is extra. Moose hunters can reach the good hunting areas by boat or ATV. If you need help with retrieval and field dressing of your moose, we will be more then happy to assist you. We have a moose hanging area and large freezers in case we get an unusually warm day.

Rifle should be at least a 280 or larger. A 300 WIN MAG is recommended. A gun must have a trigger lock and be in its storage case at dark and can not be unlocked until light. Bow hunters must use a bow with a 50-lbs. pull or better. 60-lbs. pull or better is recommended.

Ontario Walleye Fishing

Green Wilderness Lodge is lucky to be on beautiful Lake Mattagami, which is just stuffed with hard fighting and delicious Walleyes. We are one of those lucky lodges that can make the claim of catching Walleye right off the dock.

Lake Mattagami has perfect structure for a high Walleye population with many rocky points, drop-offs, islands and shoals. The river that runs into the lake provides the Walleyes with perfect spawning conditions thus; the Walleye population stays high.

The Walleye in our lake average about 15 inches but large trophy Walleye up to the 15-pound mark have been caught and released. If you love to catch and eat Walleye, then Green Wilderness Lodge is where you want to spend your vacation.

Generally, most of the best Walleye fishing is close to shore. Our guests catch them using jigs or trolling with small Rapalas or Thunder Sticks. Rubber Twistertails are not as effective in our lake as other lakes. Our guest have better luck using a jig with a worm or a minnow, which we have a large supply of at the camp.

Ontario Northern Pike Fishing

Lake Mattagami is a healthy lake with all the right conditions to grow big trophy Northern Pike. The pike in our lake average around 4 pounds but bigger trophies up to 25 pounds have been caught and released.

Most pike hunters hit the weed beds with DareDevils, Spooks and weedless spoons or surface-lures but, surprisingly, guests who are Walleye fishing with small jigs catch many of the bigger pike. This can be true on many lakes because the big pike are feeding on the Walleyes. With this in mind, guests always have to be prepared to get a big fish on. Pike in our lake are easy to catch and can be taken in good numbers.

Fly-in Trophy Fishing (day trips)

Our guests have the opportunity to take fly-in day-trips to remote trophy lakes for Walleye, Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass. Guests need to drive to an air charter service in the town of Gogama. Then get flown out in the morning in a Cessna 172 or Cessna 180 and get picked up late afternoon.

The outpost lakes have steel fishing boats with 3 hp motors. You will have to pack your own lunch or shore-lunch kit and bring your own fishing equipment. There are weight restrictions so you need to pack light. The cost is approximately $100 per person and is subject to change without notice.

Ontario Black Bear Hunting

We are lucky to be located in the Gogama Wilderness Region, which is well known for having an extremely high population of big trophy Black Bears. We have over 70 feeding stations, stratigiaclly spread out over many square miles. The feeding stations are 1.5 to 2 miles apart and are accessible by boat, truck and ATV.

The bears in our hunting management area are among the biggest in Ontario. Our guests enjoy an extremely high harvest rate. Sightings are common and most hunters can pass on smaller bears and wait for a big trophy Black Bear to come into range. Guests also see wolves at our feeding stations so if you purchase an attitional small game license, you can take a wolf if the opportunity arrises. We have tree stands but you are welcome to bring your own.
