Nestled between the majestic mountains of northern Labrador is the Flowers River, which runs 50 miles inland from Flowers Bay. This stretch of wilderness is the location of our exclusive lodge, which provides top notch hunting and fishing during the appropriate seasons. Our fishing expeditions are for those who wish to experience a unique angling adventure. Accessible strictly by float plane and helicopter, you will fish for salmon and char in the primitive, remote waters which provide scenic beauty, great fishing and calming solitude. Labrador is home to the George River Caribou Herd, the largest in the world. We will escort you to the area that has been identified as the traditional summering grounds of the herds and therefore, provide you with an excellent opportunity to obtain a trophy kill. One of our trained professionals will guide you through the exhilarating experience of tracking the caribou on foot, through the wilds of northern Labrador. In addition to fishing and hunting, the Flowers River area is a scenic haven for the eco-minded individual. Sight-seeing tours can be arranged to view glacial icebergs, to experience the rugged coastline, or to browse in the aboriginal craft stores and partake in the nature-walk trails.
Flowers River Lodge had excellent Atlantic Salmon fishing this past summer!
Honored to be Newfoundland and Labrador's most northern scheduled Salmon river, during the 2000/2001& 2002 season we experienced super fishing! Catch rates of 7 plus Salmon per day per rod, were not uncommon for some groups!!!!
We had a busy summer last year ( over 100 guests ). Prime fishing this past summer hit the Flowers at July 15th to August 17th.
The Flowers River Lodge is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences of home. The main Lodge is constructed of BC red cedar and is able to accommodate eight guests.
The out-post camp is for those seeking a true wilderness experience. Located approximately 80 miles from the Lodge, the camp skirts the parameter of the caribou herd for prime hunting conditions. We provide durable, weather-proof tents that can accommodate four people, as well as all sleeping bags and bedding for night time comfort, HF Radio-communications with Goose Bay / Main Lodge and a small generator is located on site to help with lights ( if necessary ) & provide Satellite telephone service.
The best Arctic Char pool seemed to be the one directly in front of main lodge, appropriately named "Cooks Pool". One could catch and release up to a dozen Char in 2 - 3 hours of fishing! These results are in our opinion partially due to the collapse of the commercial net fishery off the Atlantic Coast. Our catch rates at Flowers River have been steadily increasing over the past several years since the commercial fishery has been shutdown. Our Dehavilland Beaver Aircraft was available for fly-out Brook Trout fishing.
The Flowers River has an abundance of Atlantic Salmon and Arctic Char.
Salmon weigh up to 25 pounds, but average between 7-12 pounds and char weigh from 2-6 pounds with some guests catching 8-12 pounds!!
Salmon fishing can be done up and down the river from a boat, or for those who want a more ‘natural’ experience, wading from some of the 50 plus Salmon pools is always an option.
Char fishing can also be done up and down the river or right on the doorstep of the Lodge.
The caribou hunted around the Flowers River belong to the George River Herd, the largest herd in the world. Depending on the location of the herd, hunting accommodations will be at the Lodge or at the out-post camp. During the duration of the hunt, you will be in the care of our professional guides.
