Tucked away in Eastern Manitoba, within the Atikaki Wilderness Park, is Dogskin Lake Lodge. True Pristine Wilderness surrounds Dogskin with no signs of ever having had any Logging, Mining, or Commercial Fishing activities. There are no roads, with flying by floatplanes the only way in, and once there, you may not want to leave.
Free with a lodge trip a Limited Edition picture of Cody's Domain.
Dogskin Lodge is located on an island and once you venture from the lodge you can truly experience the wilderness as the hunter and trappers did decades and centuries before. Although a vast body of water, Dogskin Lake with surrounding lakes such as Francis and Clayton Lake are accessed easily within 35 minutes from the lodge.
While at Dogskin you will experience trophy Walleye and Northern Pike fishing, regardless of your chosen vacation season.
A Letter From Your Hosts
Dear friends of Dogskin:
"Dogskin Lake Lodge and Outposts was rebuilt on the belief that it holds some of the best fishing in this part of Canada. Being located in the Atikaki Provincial Wilderness Park, we were able to protect this fabulous fishery and maintain the true natural beauty that Canada is known for. For us it is a given that the fishing will be spectacular on our lakes. However, not only do our guests enjoy the fabulous fishing, but they have come to enjoy the relaxed and easy going atmosphere that Dogskin Lake Lodge and Outposts have to offer.
While at the lodge you can expect to experience some of the finest food and accommodation found at a wilderness camp. Each group has their own private cabin with daily maid service and a friendly informative staff to help with all your needs. If an outpost is more your taste you can be confident that our helpful staff with make sure that your trip is a success.
While at Dogskin you'll experience home cooked meals, wonderful desserts, freshly baked bread, and our very own Hog-N-Dogskin ice cream. Everyday you will enjoy mouth-watering shore lunch on the lake.
It makes no difference whether you are a hardcore or a recreation angler, Dogskin Lake Lodge and Outposts has everything you're looking for in a fly in fishing adventure.
We hope to see you this season." Sincerely, John & David Slater
Fishing at Dogskin throughout the season can be an experience seldom seen before. Springtime brings on the Big Northern Pike together with an abundance of Walleye, enough to keep your interest on getting back out every chance you have.
Dogskin Lake and all the Outpost Lakes have great waterways with a variety of shoreline like rocks, sand beaches and weed beds. With quiet bays, rapids, reefs and deep holes, at Dogskin the challenges of fishing is not catching the fish, but rather, see how many different lures, jigs and plugs will actually work.
Located in the Atikaki Wilderness Park in Eastern Manitoba, Dogskin is in the core of the Canadian Shield. While fishing daily for trophy Walleye and Northern Pike, you can also experience a visit to see Native Pictographs "rock art" that date back 2000 years.
While your stay at Dogskin you can have many different fishing experiences. We not only fish Dogskin Lake, but, by boating through a narrow winding river you can access some of the best Northern Pike lakes in Manitoba. They are North and South Clayton. North Clayton Lake is on the Dogskin waterway, but to fishing South Clayton you need only walk a short portage where boats and motors await for you to experience just one more lake.
Bear Lake, another portage lake, with great Walleye and Northern Pike is easily access from the Dogskin River system by only a five minute walk. Although fishing at the portage lakes is similar to that of Dogskin, the adventure of seeing another lake, the reefs, sandbars and quiet bays are memories long spoken of after you get home.
While at Dogskin, and after having fished the portage lakes, at the dinner table, you will surely hear of many happy customers returning back from fishing Francis Lake. Francis is also accessed from Dogskin by a narrow passage where you may well see Moose, Bear, Bald Eagles and Beavers. Trapper's cabins are on Francis Lake, and after visiting this site you begin to appreciate the luxuries, however humble we provide them at Dogskin. Natural beauty surrounds you at Francis Lake, just like all the others you've seen at Dogskin Lake.
