Long before the floats ever touch that pristine water, you get a sense that there is something truly special awaiting. For some it might be this unspoiled native land for as far as your eye or imagination can take you. Or maybe, it's the legend of Wapata Lake itself with her endless beauty and countless breathtaking sunsets. But I'm thinking, call it a hunch, but I'll bet it's the thought of catching a giant Northern Pike. I mean a giant. Pike so big, and so nasty, that the thrill of the catch and release will be etched in that special place that is reserved exclusively for the once-in-a-lifetime. Line ripin', reel burnin' rod bendin' Pike - that's what Cree River Lodge is about.
Cree River Lodge is Located 300 Miles North of Lac La Ronge, in the far reaches of Northern Saskatchewan. The main lodge is nestled in a sheltered area on the Cree River, adjacent to Wapata Lake so that great fishing opportunities are always possible, regardless of wind conditions. The lodge has a unique and functional design, allowing plenty of room for dining and those all important after dinner yarn spinning sessions that great fishing trips are made of. Our warm, cozy and comfortable private cabins were built new in 2001 and 2002. Each accommodates 4 people and has electric heat and full bathroom facilities including hot and cold running water. Of course, clean linens and bedding are always provided for your comfort.

The maximum capacity of our lodge is 16 people. In July and August we will try to accommodate only your group if you have 12 or more people in your party. If you're looking for a combined business, pleasure get away we can easily arrange it for you. We are open from June 1st to September 15th and would love to have you as our guests.
We're the only lodge on Wapata Lake, and are the only lodge on the Cree River system between Cree Lake and Black Lake. Because of this we have very little fishing pressure on our waters and have fantastic fishing year after year.
Every year countless northerns in the 30" to 40" range are caught & released. Monster northerns in the 40" to 50" range are not uncommon. A legitimate shot at battling giants over 45 inches makes for awesome fishing every day you're at the lodge.
Golden walleye in the 2 - 4 lb. range are abundant and are easily caught on simple rigging. During the month of August we have some of our best walleye fishing right off the dock.
As an added bonus to already unbelievable fishing, a short 10-minute boat ride puts you into those "high-spirited leapers", the Arctic Grayling.
Besides the fishing on Wapata Lake, we offer a one day river excursion down the Cree River to the dunes. The dunes is a beautiful natural phenomenon. It is a huge sand esker which rises of water and covers approximately one square mile. The fishing in the small lake there and in the adjoining river can be absolutely fantastic.
The practice of catching release of trophy fish and using barbless hooks has enabled us to keep the fishing as good as or better now as it was 20 years ago, and will ensure great fishing for years to come.
Our boats and motors and the best in the business. We have new 16 ft. Lund Alaskans with spacious, wide open floors, lots of storage and padded, swivel pedestal seats. These boats are very stable and are excellent to fish out of. All boats are powered by New 25 horsepower outboards and are operated by experienced native guides. All you do is sit back, relax and fish.
