We specialize in "Quality Hunts" at "Big Island Cove Resort!" Our outfitter LeRoy James, a licensed guide, has been an avid hunter for many years and is a member of the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association, Canadian Outfitters Heritage Alliance, Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and Safari Club.

Our area is ideal for hunters - the wilderness terrain continues for 300 miles north, with lots of trails for stalking your animal. Perfect habitat for wildlife with plenty of lakes, forests, low and high areas. We used baited stands for BLACK BEAR. These stands are baited well in advance of your arrival to ensure that each hunter has an active stand. The success rate has been excellent with many animals taken the first night out!

We also offer guided WHITETAIL DEER hunts at Big Island Cove Resort. Once again our wilderness settings provides us with an excellent territory containing a high population of white-tail deer. We offer stands for our deer hunts or you and your guide might opt to "push the bush" to find that trophy buck of your dreams!

Guided MOOSE hunts are available to Big Island Cove Resort as well. Book this hunt well in advance as only a limited number of tags are available. Enjoy the scenic beauty as you and your guide stalk one of Canada's largest big game animals.

We would also like to encourage you to bring your spouse or other non-hunting guests. For a nominal fee, they can join you on your adventure. Some guests participate by taking photos or videos of the hunt - others fish or just relax! We've had families, fathers and sons, just the "guys" and lady hunters - everyone has an enjoyable time!

Accommodations for all of our hunts are located at our resort. Our newly constructed cabins are "woodsy and warm" two bedroom units with two-piece bathrooms, full kitchen and living room area. The cabins are all located lakefront on beautiful Lac des Isles. After your hunt, relax on your deck, by the fire or just head off to bed. If the temperature takes a drop, turn on your furnace and get cozy!

You'll arrive in camp Sunday, join us for orientation that evening and start hunting the next day. For six nights you'll enjoy the thrill of the hunt. You and your party will spend 8-10 hours away from camp, deep in the woods each day. You'll leave the resort Sunday, hopefully with a trophy for each of you and a satisfied hunting trip.

We have also included a fishing package in your trip (fall and late spring). Please don't forget to pack your rod and favorite tackle. Should the hunters bag their animal early, they can go fishing in the area for some of the northerns, walleye or perch. So, it's not only a hunting trip, but a "holiday" as well!

The lush green of the boreal forest, the sparkling blue of our crystal clear lakes and the history of this natural environment park are matched with top quality tourism services and recreational facilities. Big Island Cove is a family oriented resort with only 14 cabins and 23 campsites. This translates into "No Crowds" and enables you to relax, fish, swim or do just as you wish while enjoying the quiet nature that surrounds you.

In operation since the 1950's, Big Island Cove Resort is a well-established tourism facility. As you awake in the morning you may be greeted by a deer nibbling on the flora near you. The "call of the loons" will have lulled you to sleep the night before. It's not surprising though, and you'll come to enjoy the common site of wildlife around you. Bird lovers can delight with over 350 species of birds, which flock and nest about the lakes and forests. Otters frolic in the lake and beavers appear and disappear into their houses.

The secret to great vacations here is variety! Make it as active or as relaxing as you wish. It's different for everyone. Come and experience it for yourself. LeRoy and Brenda James have owned and operated the resort since 1993. Originally from Alberta, our time here has allowed us the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the serenity and beauty of our surroundings. Raising our son here, we only hope he too will come to appreciate this natural splendor! Enjoy our favorite pastimes: fishing, boating, water-skiing, swimming or just laying on the sandy beach soaking up the sun.

Lac des Isles is one of the largest lakes in the Meadow Lake Provincial Park. It is a very clean lake with a hard sand bottom. There are plenty of hidden bays to sunbathe in. Several islands offer a picturesque interruption.

The lake is 13 miles long and 3-1/2 miles across at its widest point. Lying east to west, many beaches are protected even in bad weather. With 2 public boat launches and our launch, you should be able to ski or fish in most weather conditions. Average depth is 30' - 40' with areas over 100' deep. Our bay has 1/4 mile of sand beach with a gradual slope. Lac des Isles has few hazards - water skiers, boaters, wind surfers, fisherman, and sailors have miles of open water to enjoy.

Fish species in Lac des Isles are Northern Pike, Walleye, Yellow Perch and Whitefish. Fishing licenses are available here at the resort. Four species of trout are also available to fish in the provincial park as there are over 25 lakes to fish in the area.
