Internationally famous fishing - hunting lodge conveniently located in the French River Delta with access to the remote, scenic unspoiled French, Pickerel, Wahnapitae Rivers and Northeast Georgian Bay. Fishing for trophy walleye, northern pike, bass, crappies and muskies. Muskie fishing is our specialty. We offer modern accommodations with American Plan and Housekeeping cottages, boat/motor rentals and experienced guides. This area offers excellent canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, adventures and ecotours. Our area provides one of the highest quality wilderness experiences in all of Ontario.
American Plan Package includes your accommodations in the main lodge or request a private cottage, three excellent home cooked meals per day, snacks, nonalcoholic beverages, boat, motor, gas, worms and daily maid services. Meals are served family style in our dining room overlooking the beautiful Bear's Den Bay. A "fully pampered" plan and great relaxed get away! Just bring your own personal gear and fishing tackle.
Although Guides are not required, we strongly recommend that the first time visitor take advantage of this service. Guide duties include cleaning the catch, operating boat and motor etc, and cooking the shore lunch. A good guide makes a great trip even better. Please book guide when making reservations.
Hunting- Those who enjoy hunting will find plenty of game within easy reach of our lodge. There is a large population of ducks and other game birds and of course, there is Black Bear Hunting. Hunting Packages are available upon request.
Main Lodge Its warm and inviting fireplace in the lounge is a favorite meeting place for our guests to relax and swap tales after an enjoyable day of fishing or hunting. Everything is provided for your comfort and convenience, including a dining room and a large screened porch. Added features included free use of television, VCR, video library, pool table and book library.
Housekeeping Cottages - One, two and three bedroom cottages are fully equipped with electric heat, bedrooms are wall to wall carpeted and the bedding and linens are supplied. Each cottage has a private bathroom with tub, shower, sink and commode, hot and cold running water. The kitchens are fully equipped with electric refrigerators, stoves, dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, and cooking utensils. A gas BBQ grill is provided on your deck along with lawn chairs. You need only bring your personal and kitchen towels, food, clothing, fishing gear and tackle.
Fishing the French River has been rated as one of the top trophy walleye producing rivers in the country and this is our most abundant game fish. The early spring season is best for volumes of walleye and pike. Late spring and summer bring the added challenge of lunker size large and small mouth bass and dinner plate size crappies that are being caught in ever increasing numbers. Throughout the summer and well into late fall, huge tackle smashing muskie and pike patrol our waters, with an appetite that increases as the water starts to cool down. The fall season is a world to itself - gorgeous color, warm days and cool nights make this our favorite time of the year. Large walleye are migrating back up the River from the Bay, the bass are feeding in full frenzy and the muskies' appetite at their sharpest.
