Quebec's Northern tundra region is a vast land of rolling ridges and brawling rivers, a land still wild and unspoiled where you find clear horizons and solitude. Its southern treeline boundary is 1,100 miles north of New York City. To the west lies Hudson Bay, to the north the Hudson Strait and to the east the Ungava Bay which boasts up to 50 foot tides !

Nunavik covers and impressive total of 330,000 square miles of barren land, lakes, rivers and streams. A total of 9,500 Inuit and a small number of non-native people from the south live in 14 coastal communities. The Inuit have occupied this land for the past 5,000 years. They have learned to adapt to the harsh winter climate and the endless days of summer sunlight. They are skilled fishermen and hunters who still spend time on the land and waterways fishing and hunting for their families.

Based on over 30 years of outfitting experience in Arctic Quebec, we operate two full service American Plan hunting camps in the midst of the Leaf River herd's annual fall migration route, 125 miles west of Kuujjuaq.

One camp is called Bobby's Camp which is located 57º 52' N, 71º 33' W on Lake Kakiattukalak. The reason it is called Bobby's Camp is because the camp is managed by Bobby Snowball, an Inuk whose home is Kuujjuaq. Bobby Snowball has been operating a char fishing camp each summer and a caribou hunting camp each fall for the past 30 years.

Our second full service American Plan camp is called Willie's Camp which is located 57º 29' N, 70º 39' W. on Lake Qamaniq. The reason it's called Willie's Camp is, you guessed it! Because the camp is managed by an Inuk called Willie Etook who lives in Kangiqsuallujjuaq at the mouth of the George River.

The Tuksukatuk Lodge located 1,200 miles north of Montreal is a quality facility which offers access to a large hunting area. The caribou hold in this area each year from early August to mid October enjoying plentiful food supply and relief from the flies afforded by the cool air from Hudson Bay. The Tuksukatuk Lake and river system abounds with Arctic Char, Lake Trout and Native Brook Trout.

Arctic Char provide outstanding action on both lures and flies. We recommend medium action spinning rods and reels with a capacity for at least 100 yards of 8 to 10 pound line. Quality reels with a smooth, solid drag mechanism are a must to withstand the searing runs of a trophy char. As far as lures are concerned, Arctic Char will attack most silvery spoons, but anglers have the best results on the 2 and 3 inch Daredevils, Mepps spinners in sizes two and three and medium to large Pixie spoons.
