Come fish the mighty Niagara River for the awesome King Salmon fishing in September and October. Enjoying the scenic beauty of the Niagara Gorge while battling these powerful fighters is an experience that will have lasting memories and leave you yearning to come back. The King Salmon come up the Niagara River on their annual spawning run by the thousands, making it a great time to catch these 20 -25 pound King's of all Game Fish by drifting with light tackle for the fight of a lifetime. The famed "Devil's Hole" is where most of the action takes place, it's a little tricky navigating the fast currents and rocks, so your first trip you should use a knowledgeable Salmon fishing guide to ensure your safety and to show you how to catch these screaming, drag burning Kings. Once you tangle with one this boys you'll be hooked.
At the end of October the Steelhead, Brown and Lake Trout start to show up, following the salmon to stuff themselves on salmon eggs and bait fish. The Brown Trout and Lake Trout spawn in November & December and are throughout the river all winter long, while the Steelhead hang around until spring when they spawn. Having fresh runs of Steelies coming in all winter long makes for super fishing for these acrobatic leapers that rivals the best trout fishing anywhere. The Steelhead & Browns can be picky and a challenge to catch (because water clarity, fishing pressure, wind, etc) so use a good trout fishing guide to have a successful and enjoyable trip.
Come experience the finest Smallmouth Bass Fishing in the world on Lake Erie's eastern basin in western New York. You can expect 20 - 30 of these bronze brawlers per person with better days common. These fish average 3 - 3˝ pounds, with 4-6 pound plus Trophy Smallmouth Bass common in May & June, as well as again in October and November. There's always a shot at even bigger Smallmouths, our New York state record Smallmouth Bass is 8.4 pounds. It has been set and broken on Lake Erie several times in the past few years. Who knows? The N.Y.D.E.C. says there are bigger ones out there from their electro-shocking and net sampling analysis, maybe another state record!
The summer bass fishing is even better for those who want numbers fish in the 1 1/2 - 3 pound range with an occasional 4 pound plus Smallmouth. This is a great time to bring kids or novice anglers to make sure they stay busy learning to how to catch lots of fish. Its an Angling Adventure that will have them hooked for life after fishing with one of the best Smallmouth Bass fishing guides in western New York.
There are also bonus Walleyes & Steelhead around, as well as lots of Rock Bass, Sheepshead and occasional Silver Bass. I promote a CPR policy (Catch, Photo & Release!) on my Smallmouth Bass trips to insure the future of this great fishery.
