Action Adventures is a full time professional Colorado outfitter licensed, bonded, and insured in the State of Colorado. Over the last 20 years we have assembled a collection of hunts to make the utmost of each season. From trophy timberline mule deer bow hunts in late August and early September while these monster mule deer bucks are in velvet and on their summer range, to bowhunts and muzzleloader elk hunts for bugling bull elk during the rut. Wilderness pack-in rifle elk hunts in the high country in mid October, and late season private land elk hunts in November. As with all our trips your complete satisfaction is our main goal.

Thanks to a series of mild winters, point restrictions and good herd management, we have experienced excellent success with our elk hunts. The 4 point antler restriction on bull elk has been in place for 15 years in our units. This has protected the young bulls, allowing them to grow older and smarter. It has proven to be a great herd builder, with many bulls each year living to be mature trophy class animals. This coupled with the remoteness of our area allows the dedicated hunter a real chance at collecting a trophy bull. We offer pack-in hunts in one of Colorado's limited license units as well as private land hunts in a guaranteed license area. We have been experiencing greater trophy potential each year with over half of our hunters taking bulls that were 5x6s or bigger. Colorado Elk hunting has never been better!!!
We offer several different opportunities to hunt elk the most majestic of big game animals, from guided wilderness pack-in hunts to private land drop camps. Our specialty is hunting from remote wilderness camps. Although remote, our camps are very comfortable, with nothing spared for your complete and total satisfaction. Many past clients refer to it as the "High County Hilton". Nothing quite compares to the romance of traditional pack-in elk hunting. Horses hobbled in the meadow below camp. Elk bugling in the crisp morning air. Waking to the smell of a hardy home cooked breakfast. We limit our camp to 6 hunters, with a client to guide ratio of 2 to 1. I run the camp personally along with a very qualified staff. By employing nearly as much supporting help as there are clients in camp, we provide quality efficient service. This allows you to concentrate on bagging that big bull elk. Colorado elk hunting the way its meant to be, in the high country, with Action Adventures.
The Western slope of Colorado has by far, produced more trophy mule deer than any other region. With many times the entrees in the Boone & Crockett and Pope & Young record books. Our private land drop camp offers the opportunity to bag one of these elusive giants. Putting mule deer licenses on a drawing in 1999, increased our buck population substantially. We are once again starting to see an increased trophy potential. Archery and Blackpowder elk hunts offer an excellent opportunity to score on a big buck.
We are know offering a trophy timberline mule deer bow hunt. This should be a great opportunity to harvest a Pope & Young Buck. We have left this area undisturbed to let the bucks grow, this should prove to be a great hunt. Don't miss out on the opportunity to hunt these monster timberline mulies. The seasoned hunter will appreciate the many amenities Action Adventures has to offer. From our well trained and conditioned stock (most of which we raise ourselves), to the first class home cooked meals that we provide. We cater to small groups. You will never find our camps over booked!!! We decided several years ago that the only way we could provide the kind of experience that we wanted for our hunters was for me to oversee the operation of our guided elk hunts. This has brought the excitement back to the business for me with total control of the day to day activities. You won't be booked by an outfitter that you only see when it's time to collect your payment. On most days you will find me out guiding one of our valued clients, most of which have become treasured friends.
There back!!! Yes its true! We are now offering a 2 weeks only timberline mule deer bow hunt. After several years of scouting and watching these bucks in a of couple of secluded drainages. We now feel confident that we can again offer a great mule deer bow hunt. This hunt will take place at timberline and above, where the big boys call home for the summer. Each year we have watched and drooled over these bucks while hunting elk, but have left them undisturbed. That will change in 2003! We will take a small camp of 4-6 bow hunters and pack- in and hunt these trophies for 2 weeks only . Those filling their tag early can hunt bow hunt for elk as a bonus. I grew up hunting trophy mule deer, I have not seen trophy potential like this for 30 years. This truly a trophy hunt.
There are several advantages to hunting with Action Adventures. We pride ourselves in quality personalized service. Our guided and outfitted camps are limited to six hunters. All guided hunts are two hunters per guide. I personally run all of the guided and outfitted hunts, to insure your complete satisfaction. All of our livestock is well broke, trained and conditioned for the mountainous terrain. Our equipment is top notch with your safety and comfort our main concern. Our qualified staff is always there to meet your needs.
As a fourth generation Western Colorado resident growing up in the wilds of the San Juan Mountains, I have a vast knowledge of the game, their habits, and the wild country in which they live. We are not the largest outfitter in terms of number of clientele we take each year, nor do we want to be.
