The clear water on Sandybeach Lake provides the fly-fisherman a great opportunity to catch Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass. Pike and Bass can easily be raised to strike at surface flies from their normal habitat of less than fifteen feet of water.

Light fishing pressure and a catch-and-release program on "trophy size fish" implemented in 1996 means you can catch fish on this fishing trip and odds are a trophy size fish. The ratio of trophy size fish to guest has been around 50%. Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Perch, Smallmouth Bass, Whitefish, and an occasional Muskie are caught at Sandybeach Lake. There are no Walleye. Our guests are generally after the big Pike and Smallmouth that Sandybeach routinely produces.
Pine Cliff is one of the rare drive-to lodges that provides the remoteness of a fly-in lodge. Sandybeach Lake is as remote as many fly-in lakes due to the lack of public access other than lodge access. This cold clear secluded 10,000 acre lake is over 7 miles in length and up to 3.5 miles wide. We normally have around 25 guests and about 10 boats on the lake; which means, you can enjoy the lake and surrounding wilderness and not worry about crowded fishing hot spots, water skiers, or personal watercraft.
